Sodium Chlorate is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula NaClO3 and the relative molecular mass of 106.44. It is usually a white or slightly yellow isometric crystal. It tastes salty and cool, easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol. It has strong oxidizing effect in acidic solution and decomposes oxygen above 300℃. Sodium chlorate is not stable. It is easy to burn and explode when mixed with phosphorus, sulfur and organic matter by impact, and easy to absorb moisture and agglomerate.
It is mainly used in the manufacture of chlorine dioxide, sodium chlorite, perchlorate and other chlorates.
